Honestly, i have never been to any hotels in port blair coz its my home town..but i suggest instead of spending on luxury hotels there, its better to spend on site seeing and comfortable travel.

The best island that i went was Chester Island as it had the most amazing corals ive ever seen in the A&N Islands and ive never had so much fun snorkling anywhere else......

There are so many beaches in Andaman, and each have different flavour , smell, and feel....and many are there which most of the people never visited because of their accessability..
But overall you can say....No 5, and No.7 in Havelock are best .....

Visit Diglipur and sail for half an hour to reach the most beautiful twin Island. One side its beautiful for snookling, beautiful corals with varieties of sea beauties.
The other side its like a crystal clear swimming pool. U can enjoy it.
I have visited Radhanagar Havlock beach, People who have visited Rose and smith will never say Havlock is the best.
The second beautiful island is found in 16 km of Hutbay. ofcourse there are many.

Hi guys..
I'm 4m mumbai n wanna explore the coral islands of Andamans!! Andamans can be reached by boat i.e the MV's! Im opting for boat coz 4 experience..
Both Chennai n Kolkata are almost at same distance from mumbai.. so which will be more feasible.. both frequency wise and money wise??

What abt quality of food served in these MV's?
And about the availability of reservatiosn for the same?
I have heard that the MV's publish their timetable in local dailies??
How can i get access to such information?

First of, calling boats is a bit misleading. Its more of a ship. Anyways to your question, if you do want to travel via Ship, its better to do it from Chennai or Vizag, as it takes 3-4 days, from Kolkatta it could take a couple of days more depending upon the high/low tide.

About prices, its not really worth compared to Airline prices. As you aren't from the islands you will have to pay full price. Prices also depends upon what kind of ticket are you buying, bunk class being the lowest and Delux cabin being the highest.

guys there was a news in the newspaper that our college's Mechanical and computer science departments are removed from NBA accrediation..

let me clear out though this is unfortunate but it hardly matters for any NIT to get or not "NBA accreditation" because these institute are listed as institute of national importance by govt . of india and are thus independent bodies just like AICTE AND NBA themselves
so dont be worried and don't streach out this rumour that now degree wont be vlid os such... its no problem only slightly unfortunate and we know all about this college at least .

I checked the link above. The list that appears doesn't tell us that Mechanical and CSE are not accrediated. The list only tells us that five branches of our college were accredited by NBA on the given date. The accrediation is for specific period ( say 3 yrs and 5 yrs) and for specific branch. Only those branches whose accrediation period comes to an end are checked. It is possible that CSE and Mech have their accrediation period remaining when they were last checked.

And we all know Mech is in very very good condition in our college. It's considered one of the best in the country. So, it's not possible at all that Mech is not accrediated.

We need to find out the truth from some official person.

ya these r the list of branches approved on 26-05-2009, 29-05-2009 and 05-06-2009...
it is clear that only 38 coll feature on the list whereas there are hundreds of accredited colleges...... so it means that these 5 branches recieved accredition on these dates and hence on the list and this list gives no info about previously accredited branches

Last yr there were no category ranks in GENERAL CATEGORY...(and probably for reserved categories too)... and everyone was given seats by their OVERALL RANKINGS in state(mostly including categories)... Even for All india ppl... of course i dunno what's the procedure this yr.. So dont act too smart.. else ur arrogance will screw ur coll life i assure u...

If both of u are lucky u may get comp. Else EEE for sure...

BTW Mech is a cool branch here... decent faculty... great scope no doubt!! Placements are pretty good too! DONT hesitate in taking it! many ppl prfer mech over EEE and even comps!

PS-i assume both of u are from k'taka....

You can get branch change to any branch as in first year the classes are common. So ultimately it comes upto, how many ppl above you hv applied for the branch to which u wanna go and hw many seats are available there.

Also one tricky thing is that if you move out of ur current branch and this results in the drop of class strength to below 75% of the allotted amount then u r nt allowed to change ur branch irrespective of ur grades.

And also no such defebnse quota exists here. For god sake its an NIT

ell this year there has been a separate ranking for category..well depends on what your overall ranking is..for obcs the cutoffs last year for circuit was 25000..with an increase this year it may move up 2000 ranks..

Look.. if u hv interest in any branch and u study that wid interest.. u will always have a gud scope in future irrespective of market demand.. bt it largely depends on hw much are u interested.. If u come into it out of chance since u didn get anything and were "Stuck" with it.. then u may nt do well as i have seen ppl with gud aieee ranks wo didn perform in our batch while the low rankers outperformed them just for the interest...

The faculty is one of the best in the country and the labs too are excellent.. The syllabi too is very easy.. As far is job is concerned, don worry.. this yr ours was the only batch wid 100% placement...

But again ur interest trend looks like the stock market.. Since before in this thread ui had mentioned that ur interest is in meta.. So first ask urself if u r really interested.. If u are then mining will be an excellent call and i assure u won't regret it

u noe these rules tricky they might be plug a serious loophole whereby someone having got into sastra can still get into NITK unlike last time..

The Internet Bus campaign is designed by Google to reach out to individuals who have limited exposure to Internet and its possibilities. The Internet Bus was unveiled on February 3 by Dr. Prasad Ram, Director, R&D at the Music Academy, on TTK Salai in Chennai.

We have traveled to 17 towns across the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu and talked to the offline population about the great happenings on the world wide web. We believe that if we can get people to experience the Internet even briefly they will find the means to go back again. This project represents another way Google is directly engaging with people in India.

Essentially, this is a part of Google's mission to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. The bus highlights a sample of what is possible on Internet through informative content in English and Tamil across the themes of Information, Education, Communication, and Entertainment. Videos in Local language are designed to make the introduction to Internet simple.

Internet Bus in Vellore

Vellore is a city with a blend of rich heritage and culture representing the ancient Dravidian civilization. It was the seat of the Pallavas, Cholas, Nayak, Marathas, Arcot Nawabs and Bijapur Sultan Kingdoms. Vellore was once the capital city of the mighty Vijayanagar empire during 1606-1672. Vellore gets its name from the Tamil words 'vel' and 'oru', meaning the 'City Of Spears'. It is considered to be one of the oldest surviving cities in South India. The city lies on the banks of the Palar river on the site of Vellore Fort and also between IT majors (Chennai & Bangalore) and major pilgrim centres (Tirupathi and Thiruvannamalai).

As of 2001 India census, Vellore City had a population of 177,413 with an average literacy rate of 74%, higher than the national average of 59.5%.

Areas visited: Voorhes Higher Secondary School and the Vellore Fort

We went to Voorhes High School in Vellore. The school management was very cooperative and sent students through the day to help them get familiarized with the concept of the Internet.Other nearby schools like Don Bosco, and the Government school also sent their students to Voorhes.

The students weren't much exposed to the Internet, although some of them had used computer in school. They were excited to learn that they can check their board exam results, online. They were interested to find their houses on Google Earth, to find more information on famous places such as the Golden Temple and Vellore Fort.

The students also wanted to use Internet to learn more about Tsunami so that they could be better prepared if the disaster strikes again. Career was obviously important. Students wanted to know how Internet can be used to find job posting and how it can help in finding colleges for further studies.

Internet Bus in Krishnagiri

Krishnagiri is known as 'Mango's own country'. The city is famous for its mangos and produces almost 300,000 tones annually. The city was under the rule of Krishna Deva Raya and hence it might have been named after this king. 'Krishna' refers to 'black' and 'giri' refers to 'hill'. This district is gifted with black granite hillocks and named as "Krishnagiri".

As of 2001 India census, Krishnagiri had a population of 65,024, with an average literacy rate of 72%, higher than the national average of 59.5%.

Areas visited: Krishiland Higher Secondary Scool and Don Bosco Higher Secondary School.

We visited Krishiland School and Don Bosco school at Krishnagiri. Both the school we went to, had about equal mix of boys and girls. Though the schools had computer labs, they did not have an Internet connection. We had a lot of teachers students asking questions about the Internet and checking out the video consoles.

The students were very interested in learning about career options. They were fascinated with Google Earth and everyone wanted to locate their schools on Google Earth! After their experience on the Bus, they were asking us to give them details on the various broadband options to help convince their parents to get Internet access at home!

Internet Bus in Salem

Salem is the fourth largest city of Tamilnadu and located in the central part of the state. The city is also a major textile hub of the country and famous for stainless steel. The name 'Salem' seems to have been derived from Sela or Shalya by which the term refers to the country around the hills, as in the inscriptions.

As of 2001 India census, the Salem Urban Agglomeration had a total population of 751,438 with an average literacy rate of 77%, higher than the national average of 64.5%.

Areas Visited: Holy Angels (Girls) school, Holy Cross (Boys) school, St John's School

Text book education is of prime importance in these schools. Internet was used only by the principal. Students were shy but very smart. A 10th grade student from Holy Cross school wanted to know how he can make money through a website.

College students seemed exposed to Internet. Many students had used to social networking sites but were now restricted by their college.

A police officer wanted to know how to get information about corruption levels using Internet. There was an ascetic with long hair who wanted to unearth a lost idol of "Baadhala Bhairavi Amman". Although we couldn't help him find it, we told him how to create a blog to report his finding once he accomplishes his task. He was quite happy with that.

Computer literacy and education was quite interesting for these people that the Internet Bus was welcomed with a great fanfare.

Internet Bus in Pollachi

Pollachi is known for its picturesque set up at the foothills of the Western Ghats, surrounded by coffee and tea estates. In fact, most of the Tamil movies are shot around this town to portray rural TamilNadu villages. The town exports coconuts and tender coconuts to all over India, and hence called 'Coconut City.' Pollachi is also famous for being Asia's largest Jaggery market.

As of 2001 India census, Pollachi had a population of 88,293 with an average literacy rate of 79%, higher than the national average of 59.5%.

Areas Visited: Nachiar Vidyalayam School

There is not much Internet penetration in Pollachi and this was a first exposure to the Internet for a relatively large percentage of the population. Most of the school children didn't have any knowledge of the Internet. The management of the Nachiar Vidyalayam school had invited all over 15 schools (Rural Government Schools) to their school to learn about the Internet and the Internet bus was exposed to a larger audience.

Fear of adult content being promoted/circulated over the Internet seemed at large here, due to which children were not allowed to visit the Internet browsing cafes/centers. The emphasis here apart from the benefits of the Internet included education on child filters and safety search features while browsing.

Internet bus in Coimbatore

Also known as Kovai, Coimbatore is the second largest city of Tamil Nadu and one of the fastest growing cities in India. Popularly known as "The Textile Capital of South India" or "The Manchester of the South India", the city is situated on the banks of the river Noyyal. Or, would you recognize it if we say, you go to Ooty passing by this city mostly? Situated at the foot hills of Nilgiris, it is known for its pleasant climate, peaceful atmosphere, cosmopolitan outlook and private enterprise. Our Internet Bus team thoroughly enjoyed the கோவை தமிழ் (Coimbatore Tamil) spoken in the city, which any Tamilian would agree to call it as the 'Sweetest Tamil Accent.'

As of the 2001 India census, Coimbatore had a population of 930,882 in Municipal Corporation limits with an average literacy rate of 78%, higher than the national average of 59.5%.

Areas Visited : Chinmaya Vidyalaya Matriculation School, Kovai Kalaimagal College of Arts and Science, Perk's Matriculation School, Venkatalakshmi Matriculation School.

The Internet exposure was quite significant in Coimbatore. There were certain schools that encouraged Internet exposure by giving them assignments that require online references. The higher class students were very smart and knowledgeable about the Internet as they asked high end questions on topics like Internet speed, Internet servers, memory space, and more.

The Internet Bus was visited by a young boy, who sold flowers for a living, and had no clue about the Internet but managed to learn about maps, earth and search in local language.

The mobile station seemed like a big hit as most college-going students with high end phones wanted to install the Google Mobile Pack on their mobiles. Many of the students also saved the Google SMS number on their phones and asked for extra collateral, so they could distribute among their friends.

Internet Bus in Dindigul

The Huge Hill at Dindigul resembles a pillow. Thus, the city is know as Dindigul, a portmanteau from the Indian 'Thindu' for pillow, and 'kal' for rock. Dindigul is famous for its manufacture of locks, and therefore, commonly known as the "City of Locks and Tannery." A favorite cigar of Winston Churchill, the 'Light of Asia', was produced in Dindigul, a land famous for Tobacco too.

As of 2001 India census, Dindigul had a population of 196,619 with an average literacy rate of 79%, higher than the national average of 64.8%.

Internet penetration seemed to be high amongst the college students as they seemed to be using the Net for their assignments and projects. They were more savvy than their professors! Focus here was on learning how can they use the Internet to improve their lives and were interested in topics such as Internet banking, ticket booking, and mobile search, etc.

Exposure to additional uses of the Internet like blogging, mobile phone reviews, recipes, vacation packages, set them thinking and one group was all set to start a blog about the latest project they were working on.

Students in local medium schools didn't know much about the Internet. For many, this was their first Internet experience and they were very excited to learn more. Emphasis here was on how Internet can be useful in their day-to-day life, that too in their local language, which lead to an increased interest in the benefits of the Internet.

Internet Bus in Madurai

Madurai is one of the important cities in South India. The seventh largest city in Tamil Nadu, One of South India's great temple towns, Madurai is synonymous with the celebrated Meenakshi Temple. Temples, monuments and ancient cultural wonders abound in Madurai. It is even called ‘The Athens of the East’. Jasmine flowers of Madurai district are known all over the country. They carry a special fragrance unique to Madurai.

As of the 2001 India census, the city of Madurai had a population of 928,869 within the municipal corporation limit with an average literacy rate of 79%, higher than the national average of 59.5%.

Overall, the Madurai population seemed quite savvy and informed in terms of Internet knowledge. Children in higher classes were more aware about the Internet than the younger ones.Concerns regarding security and misuse of the Internet were dominant amongst teachers and parents.

We had visitors of all ages on the bus.The major areas of interest included topics such as job search, exam results, chatting with children living away, Internet banking and more. One priest was interested in pictures of Madurai Meenakshi goddess and wanted to know if there were live camera feeds for all other gods too! An old gentleman after being on the bus decided to get an Internet connection at home to chat with his daughter living in another city.

There's a mindset amongst the older audience, that learning how to use the Internet for even basic things such as emails is hard, difficult and costly. They wanted to know if there is any course on how to use the Internet and where they could enroll for such a course.

Internet Bus in Tirunelveli

Tirunelveli is the 6th largest city in Tamil Nadu, South India, and the district headquarters of Tirunelveli district. The city is considered to be one of the oldest in the Indian subcontinent, with a history that dates back to 1000 BC. Tirunelveli is an important junction in the National Highway No 7 connecting India from the North to South (Kashmir to Kanyakumari). Tirunelveli is also often called the "Halwa City" for its very famous sweet Halwa.

As of 2001 India census, Tirunelveli had a population of 411,298, with an average literacy rate of 78%, higher than the national average of 59.5%.

The students of the school were very curious to learn about the Internet and the bus was soon filled with hundreds of kids. The word spread so fast that kids who had gone home after their public exams came rushing back to see what the bus had to offer.

In fact, most of them wanted to know about websites which would give them their exam results. A lot of students were interested in researching about the colleges they'd like to study in.

Internet Bus in Nagercoil

Nagercoil is the capital of Kanyakumari. Nagercoil derives its name from a famous old temple called the Naga Raja Temple (temple of the serpent king) which still exists in the central part of the town. It has been an important temple for Hindus for centuries, and it also is a tourist attraction. According to certain accounts, it may once have been a Jain temple, as icons of the Jain Tirthankaras -- Mahavira and Parsvanatha -- are found on the pillars of the temple. In earlier days, Nagercoil and its surroundings were known as Nanjilnadu .

The principal of a deaf and dumb school heard that the Internet Bus was parked a block away from her institution and sent all her students over to take a look at the bus. The teachers from this school helped our promoters educate these special students about the Internet.

Many people between ages 20-40 were very impressed by the Google SMS number and wanted to know how they could use it on a day to day basis. T

The students from engineering colleges in Nagercoil were very impressed by our videos and asked our instructors to explain how they could view demonstrations on YouTube. The biology students and literature students from one college were of the opinion that internet is only for the computer science stream students. But they were amazed to see the biological diagrams and the literary resources in Wikipedia and Google search.

A father decided to get Internet for his son after they both saw its uses inside the Internet Bus. Quite a few people wanted to know how expensive an Internet connection was.

Internet Bus in Tuticorin

Thoothukudi is known as Tuticorin. It is the headquarters of Tuticorin District. "Thoortha" means land "reclaimed" from sea while "Kudi" also stands for "settlement" or "colony". Hence "Thoortha Kudi" or Thoothukudi could mean a settlement built on land reclaimed from sea. Tuticorin is a main Port city of India . The major harbor of Tuticorin is well known as pearl diving, fishing centre and shipbuilding. The city is also known as " Pearl City ” and "Muthu Nagar”. Tuticorin is famous for pearl fishing, production of salt, fishing and other related business. Totally 70% salt is manufactured in Tuticorin.

We saw a lot of parents bring their kids to the bus when it was stationed at the Anna Statue. One of the parents said "Our children are so fascinated by this bus that they will definitely try using Internet in future." A family from a village 30 kms from Tuticorin came over to see the bus when it was at the Hotspot.

In fact, many people didn't know about the existence of the Tamil Web. A visit to our bus has helped them know about its existence and they were impressed that they could use the Internet in their own local language.

The principal at the Kamachi Vidyalaya school invited three matriculation situated around her school to take a look at the Google Internet Bus. The students were really impressed with the uses of the Internet and could not contain their excitement at seeing an orkut community about their favorite teacher.

Teachers are not far from the students here. We educated all the B. Ed students from St.Thomas College about the internet. These future teachers promised to teach the same things to their students once they started teaching.

Internet Bus in Pudukkottai

The present-day district of Pudukkottai was part of the Pandya kingdom. It was founded by Raghunath, raja of Tondaimandalam (the region around the ancient port of Tondi on India’s southeastern coast). Industries include peanut (groundnut) oil and sesame oil extraction. The school children here were eager to know about the Internet and stayed on past school hours to get on the bus. They were excited to see image searches of the popular actor Vijay, latest tamil movie songs on youtube and their school on google maps.They were equally amazed to know that they can check 10th and 12th std results online.

Some of the older children were quite savvy and asked questions about how to find out information for further studies and information about colleges and how to apply for them online.

Internet Bus in Trichy

Tiruchirappalli, situated on the banks of the river Cauvery is the fourth largest city in Tamil Nadu. Trichy is a fine blend of tradition and modernity built around the Rock Fort. The most famous land mark of this bustling town is the Rockfort Temple, a spectacular monument perched on a massive rocky out crop which rises abruptly from the plain to tower over the old city. The city is a thriving commercial centre in Tamil Nadu and is famous for artificial diamonds, cigars, handloom cloth, glass bangles and wooden and clay toys. As of the 2001 national census, Trichy had a population of 746,062 with an average literacy rate of 91.45%.

Areas Visited: Bharti Vidhyalaya Matriculation School, Dhanalaxmi Matriculation School, Anna Stadium and Chattaram Bus Stand.

Word about our bus spread like wild fire. In fact some of the visitors said they heard about the Internet Bus from someone in a movie theatre and then came to take a look at it. Some teachers visited the bus as they were curious about knowing how to use the Internet to educate children better. They were impressed when they learnt about creating youtube videos online and using these videos for education.

The college going crowd at the Anna Stadium were interested in knowing about how they could use the Internet to find more information about what they were studying. The students at one of the schools were so enthusiastic that they queued up right till the second floor of their school to get inside the bus.

Many children brought their parents to the bus to learn about the Internet and its benefits. They were also interested in knowing about colleges where they could pursue their further education.

Indic transliteration was a big hit at the hotspots. Many people were also interested in knowing about how they could read news online since they didn't get time to read the newspaper before going to work.

Internet Bus in Thanjavur

Also known as 'Tanjore.' Thanjavur District is the Rice Bowl of Tamil Nadu. The Big Temple and the other famous temples in the district are known all over the world. Thanjavur was the cultural capital of the country in 1790. Thanjavur is the eleventh largest city in Tamil Nadu with a population of 221,185 with an average literacy rate of 80%, higher than the national average of 59.5%.

Areas Visited: Marudu Pandiyar College, Tamil University and New Bus Stand

We had a lot of college going crowd entering the bus and they had a lot of questions about Google Maps. Students at the Marudu Pandiyar College were very impressed with the information about Internet and said that they would use the Internet to get information for their future assignments.

Education seems like a very strong point here. At the hotspots, many middle aged people wanted to know how their children could find information about universities to pursue future education online.

The registrar of the Tamil Nadu university, visited the bus and was all praise for it and said that the bus was ideal to spread Internet awareness in Tamil Nadu.

Internet Bus in Kumbakonam

Kumbakonam is one of the oldest towns in Tamilnadu and is famous for its Mahamaham festival. Kumbakonam is the temple city of South India situated in Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu. The city is famous for the Mahamaham festival that is celebrated once in 12 years in the Mahamaham tank located in the heart of it.

The town is famous for brass vessels. It is primarily a market town for the predominantly agriculture based villages surrounding it. Betel leaves are cultivated more in Kumbakonam since it is also called as Kumbakonam Vettrilai (in Tamil). As of 2001 India census, Kumbakonam had a population of 140,021 with an average literacy rate of 78%, higher than the national average of 59.5%

The students at the college felt that the Google Indic Transliteration website would help them, especially because many of the students were studying in Tamil Medium. Many of them noted down the extension on the collateral we gave them. Girls seemed quite shy at asking questions and it took them some time to actually ask their questions.

Many people at the Mamaha Kollam were very impressed by Google Maps. They were all interested in looking at the temple on our maps. Another topic that they were interested in was the Google Indic Transliteration. They were also excited to know more about sending emails to their friends and family.

Internet Bus in Neyveli

Neyveli is a mining and power generation township in Cuddalore district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. When systematic geological investigations were taken up in the area, occurrence of lignite over an area of 260 sq.km. With reserves of 2100 million tones discovered. The township was developed after mining of lignite started under the Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) in 1956. Today the township covers 53 square kilometres provide around 21,000 houses for the employees

Internet Bus in Cuddalore

Cuddalore is a fast growing industrial city and located in the southern state of Tamil Nadu and is the headquarters of the Cuddalore district. Located south of Pondicherry on the Bay of Bengal, Cuddalore in Tamil means "Sea town" and is known for its beaches, particularly Silver beach, which is an emerging tourist spot.

As of 2001 India census, Cuddalore had a population of 158,569 with an average literacy rate of 76%, higher than the national average of 59.5%.

Areas Visited: Kamatchi shanmugam Mat. Hr.Sec.School, Silver Beach and the Cuddalore Bus Stand

Blogs and videos seemed to be the hot areas of interest for the people in Cuddalore. At the Silver beach, people were amazed when they got to know they could upload their videos online and create blogs which could be viewed by others. In fact one person has been following the bus since it started its tour of Tamil Nadu. He has a blog all about Cuddalore and plans to write about the bus on his blog.

A group of teachers who had come for a conference from various parts of Tamil Nadu saw the bus at the beach and decided to learn about the Internet. Although they knew about the Internet, they hadn't known that it could be used for so many different purposes.

Maps and Earth seemed to be the area of fascination for the crowd. A businessman who owns a travel agency wanted to know how he could use maps to ensure his drivers reached a destination on time. People had questions about when street view would come to India. At the time of exiting the bus, many of them were interested in knowing how they could get an Internet connection!

Internet Bus in Thiruvannamalai

Thiruvannamalai is a pilgrimage town and municipality in Thiruvannamalai district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Thiruvannamalai is home to the Annamalaiyar Temple located at the foot of the Annamalai hill and amongst one of the great Shiva Temples of Tamilnadu. Shishya school had students wanted to know how they could use Wikipedia to get information for their projects.

Many people at the hotspots wanted to know how to use the Internet to learn English online. After visiting the bus, many people wanted to know more about how they could get an Internet connection.

GOOGLE to launch chrome OS...

eems like google is all set to give microsofta run for there money as they are all set to launch there own operating system titled as CHROME for the personel computers...
it will be interesting to see what microsoft does with it as 90% of the computers you will find windows as the OS

Start from two ends of the sorted list and if their sum is less than M then move the first pointer towards right and check again. If their sum is greater than M then move the second pointer towards left.

You are right. I'm just modifying your approach little bit. The concept will be the same.

Take one pointer pointing to minimum of BST. (O(lg n))
Take one pointer pointing to maximum of BST. (O(lg n))

Now do the same thing.
If the sum is greater than SUM then go to predecessor of maximum node.
Else if sum is less than SUM then go to successor of minimum node.

you are correct on saying that finding a predecessor or successor takes O(lgn) time, but that is only for that particular node. but suppose starting from a particular node you go to say n successors successively, you will be taking not more than O(n) time.
why?
say we consider a node in a tree, how many times are you going to access this node when finding successors?
not more than 3 times. why?
1) to go to the left subtree
2) to move from left subtree to right
3) to move out of the subtree rooted at this node.
3rd case occurs when any parent is a successor. once this subtree is accessed you are never going to come back to it again during the whole traversal.
its bit difficult to explain like this but i hope little thinking on your side will satisfy you.

hope this example may clear out some more of it...
in a sorted array finding the successor you visit any index just once. why? because when you move beyond it there is no coming back. eg 3 5 6 7 8 9

SECULARS don't need electricity and water

UPA Govt's callousness towards common man's problem of scarcity of water and
electricity make others to beleive that SECULARS who voted for UPA Govt. don't consume water and use electricity.

Delhi has voted to Shiela Dixit third time and in return they are facing acute water scarcity and power cut for hours as reward to SECULAR votes. People are ransacking the Electricty offices which is culmination of their frustration, anger and betrayal of Congress Govt.

Similarly Mumbai is also facing acute water scarcity though Mumbaikar's votes Congress.

It seems Congress feels that SECULARS don't need the basic need of life i.e. WATER and ELECTICITY.

Water and electricity scarcity are common problems to all of India. Both BJP and Congress ruled states face this problem. These issues are State subjects and the UPA has no control over them except in cases of arbitration.

Pani,Bijali aur thel (water, Electricity and oil) are secondary ,essentials of the urban. Rural folks manage as water is available naturally, bullock carts need no petrol and electricity is a waste. Where water is rare, people avoid bathing and in toilet.
But in urban area, these needs are not available but are made available.So it has become the duty of government to make it available .But as village economy is deteriorating, migration to urban area increase .In metros this migration rate is beyond all limits,So no government is able to meet the secondary needs in metros.
So water ,electricity will be available always in some area.
But will be short in other area .They will complain ‘we voted a secular govt,why they are not providing water and electricity,Do secular need no water and electricity? what sir? We better be communal and a lot other things.”
Some day water will be available and power cut gone .Then those who complained will forget the issue. In other words the issue under discussion is a natural, temporary outburst of emotion of lower middle class when he don’t get a thing. He will forget the issue as soon as he gets.

Self glorification of Mayawati

I was utterly shocked. I have seen politicians do some real bad stuff during my lifetime. But this just seems as a new low.
How is she still on power is a mystery to me.

here is no mystery as such in her Political success. She has brought dalits of entire nation under one umbrella. They look up to her as the most powerful and exclusive representative of their interests in national politics. A massive Dalit vote bank and a sympathetic Brahimn clan has safeguarded the stability of her regime. She acts and rules like an autocrat , keeping a safe distance from the Center and giving little hid to the course of national interest. Mayawati and Saddam Hussian both are similar in their obsession of self glorification. Like Saddam, Maya believes in spending billions to erect her won statue. She has successfully finished couple of multicrore projects without drawing any flak from Center and judiciary. Center always not to malign Maya's ambitious projects. Maya has always played upon the the political constrains of the ruling Government in the Center.

Superconductivity in Space

Hi Guys!!!

This is something that I have been thinking for past several years now, but lack of information and experimentation is keeping me confused. Any one coming up with a direction would be of great help.

Today we have several alloys that can exhibit superconductivity at low temp. Now in space where temp is very low e.g. -100 deg C (Although temp. could be as low as absolute Zero) , these high temp. superconductors would exhibit superconductivity. So is it possible to build space stations away from impact of solar heat to have all electrical sub systems running on superconducting materials as in space they would not require cooling.

In fact doesn't normal metals like copper etc would exhibit superconductivity in space without any additional apparatus.

Hey Shyam, How come u talk about Gravity and Atmospheric pressure.. when we are supposed to discuss Superconductivity....

Yes it is possible.. And I already know that...But the thing is I want to know why isn't it being applied to the construction /Design of Space ships/Satellites specially when we employ high power magnets for rotating cabin to create artificial acceleration due to gravity.

My dear young friend... To give u a brief.. I have personally worked on Superconductors.. But I am talking of design consideration and using this nature provided superconductivity in space.

By the way to give a briefing in Spaceship design and it's associated electronics , all electrical and electronic equipment that is sent in space is designed with utmost purity and is protected against radiation and is covered with thermal coatings and are generally thermally isolated.

My question is for the people who are involved in these design processes, that why do we use thermal isolation (Apart from protecting the euipment from Cosmic radiation)
when we can direectly employ this low temp. environment for superconductive applications.

Like using dark side of moon as a boon to run New age moon rovers with superconducting motors.. and same goes for all other space age machines.

hey, i was also thinking about this idea for quite a log time. with super conductor, we can have a low mass, better efficiancy solution for torquers, power bus (especially when it is longer), etc.

using directional radiators and multi layer insulaters we can maintain a perfect very low temperature in specific regions.

there was few studies performed on this subject by NASA. they found out that they have potential to provide low-weight alternative for conventional systems. But no one ever attempted to build such a spacecraft. following can be the reson
since testing is very crucial, in ground, you should be able to maintain that temperature in specific parts of the spacecraft. so the process of testing will be a great challenge.

Kamaldeep :- Yr Idea abt. utilizing superconductivity in space is infact under research . Few points which i have my opinion are as follows :-

1. I don't think copper would be exihibiting super condutcivity at temperatures like -ve 100 C , since super conducting magnets which we use , are kept at temperatures around 4 K and are not made of pure copper , we use alloy instead . I don't know the exact reason but I think superconducitivity also needs number of free electrons available in matter at near absoulute zero temp.

2. Regarding using low temperature in space for super conductivity .. i think safety reason must be posing some restrictions as if by accident temperature changes and matter looses super conductivity ....,Just think A potential difference of 2 mv can cause around 750 Amps current to flow in a superconductor practically in field and if suddenly conductor property changes to resistive ...... bingo... huge amount of heat will cause a problem .. in superconductors a difference of 10K can cause this.

I am strongly agree with you.

We can have really low mass transformers and generators with superconductors...but as you said if the material in any mean looses the superconductivity....then there will be cumulative heat generation which could destroy the whole plant.....

but as normally done using control systems, the whole plant can be monitored for temperature and all, and if any rise above threshold is detected, the proper preventive action taken at time we can realise such system practically..

one doubt that I have, How we are going to transfer that energy to earth... Superconductive materials if used as a part of the structural building units of the spacecraft/rover , using them to create magnetic field for levitation or motors , asassisted with traditional backup for locomotion (e.g. motors that are properly shielded and that use conventional space tech. and electronics) ; with help of magnetic field created with these superconductors or with there physical magnetic properties, Isn't it possible to design a very efficient spacecraft. That if suppose set on jupitar's moon or may be farther, would not receive sufficient temp. variations due to sun , possibly we can employ this tech. in such a scenerio.

Using Superconductivity for electrical transmission is a dream for every scientist working in this field. The day this is acheived at room temp. , the way we look at electricity would change. We would have 100% efficient grids, electrical systems, this would be a breakthrough at par with Nuclear Tech. that was discovered in past

However even if we are able to discover that today then, we might need to have a complete change to the way our electronic devices work. This would make mankind change everything that has been discovered in the past.And Wireless electrical transmission is also not practical, as how would your power company charge you for it?? Electricity is not information that can be encrypted. It would have to made available to all else could be stolen easily .

Instead of studying about Superconductivity though wiki, go through some good Applied Physics books. That would make you understand the awe of superconducters.
These are really amazing materials, every superconductor does not behave with same electrical /magnetic properties, they do wierd things!!!! .... Study about them, am sure this would generate a lot of curiosity.

Weightlessness in space causes adverse effects on health like losing bone mass. artificial gravitational acceleration is proposed for long term manned missions to avoid such things and for ease of mobility.

you can achieve this by constantly rotating the crew module at an angular velocity. the centrifugal force will give an acceleration. according to theory of relativity, you cannot distinguish between acceleration due to gravity and the inertial acceleration. it works the same way as how we can drive motor cycle inside a circus cage.

Because of the large mass of such a system, it was never used in any of the missions. But nasa has designed it for the International Space Station (ISS) that is being assembled. But never flown (I heard ISS is facing serious budget problems).

Hey we are here to help each other and know more. So its ok to make mistakes.

One of the very important application of superconductors in spacecraft will be attitude control system. conventional system uses liquid fuel engines which seriously limits the mission life. and the magnetic torquers we use are not that powerful. we can make powerful torquers with super conductors.

It'l be a marvel if the idea can be realized but i think these factors may effect the superconductivity in outter space
->Strong and stray magnetic fields due the stellar bodies or planets
->Extra stellar Radiation
->Transport (its obvious)

The first two effect don't have a finite shielding until today. We can use large magnetic fields to divert the incoming radiation but that would be far higher than the critical magnetic fields.
I believe that in future there would be a much better range of High-Tc and superior theory than the BCS which may make Superconductors be available for use in the normal temperature conditions.

Latest news: New kind of ionic thrusters for space crafts have been developed. Superconducting Plasma Rockets. with the latest model using superconducting magnets to massively increase the strength of the magnetic field driving the output without increasing the weight.

I am new to the Perl World. I qualified the BINC first paper but I was dead in the third paper because I do not know Perl programming (Any programming). Now I am trying to learn myself so I have even got it installed on my system (Win XP) got checked it (by typing “perl –v” on command prompt) and trying simple program e.g. “Welcome to Perl world” typed on notepad and saved with the .pl extension now the problem is that I am unable/ don’t know exactly how to execute the program.

Therefore, I shall be thankful to you people if you kindly let me know with example of simple program how exactly the program is run or executed.

Ever remain grateful,

1) Write ur perl program in a notepad and save it with a .pl extension in any drive (preferably in a folder).
2) Open the command promt, change the path to that particular folder, where ur program lies.
3) Then type: perl myprogram.pl

Can anybody tell whether we will have to produce NOC certificate (in case a candidate is already on goct sector/PSU etc )at the time of Interview or in case of selection?
anyone who can clarify this would highmy be appriciated.

if anyone get call letter pls infm here in detail

Here on my call letter they ask to bring original documents only which you attached with application form.
1.Educational Cirtificates
2.Age proof
3.TTA exam admit card.
4.cast cirtificate if u hav.

They told me training period will be 10 week or so.but it is not mentioned on call letter.

I have completed my interview process the gd topic

two topics were given for gd

1)are technical advancements needed
2)Is examination is always a criteria to test a persons knowledge

we selected first topic,after that they gave time to think for few minitues.within 13 min we finished the gd and one of us conclueded the discussion.

interview they ask our whereabouts and then they start asking questions in power system protection,dc and ac machines if are thorough with this subjects it is half done.interview panel consists of 7 or 8 members.I think c.l.wadhwa is also in the pannel.they will arrange break fast,tea and lunch for you dont need to worry about food.

plz the candidates who hav given their gd/pi plz post their experience just tell how waz the gd/pi it waz hot or cool

GD was a bit easy. 7 members in one group. Some of the GD topics were:
1) Population is a Asset or Liability
2) Cricket is a wastage of manpower in India
3) Co-Edu or same gender education is better for personality development
4)Whether there should be any qualification for politicians

About interview:
Mainly stressed on Power Plant Engg. and project work.

it iz not elimination round my gd /pi is still to be held but it iz not elimination round

2. INDO PAK WAR - IS IT NECESSARY??

2. Should Doctors & Engineers be allowed to enter civil services ?
3. Are films affecting the youth of the country ?
4. Women's Reservation Bill ( don't know exact name of topic )

Interview questions included both general awareness and from instrumentation and transducer

Tamil Nadu circle - Total number of application received

Telecom = above (3500 + 585) !!!!!!!! 575 = rejected ( 23*25 )

electrical =below (3000 + 75) !!!!!!!!! 75 = rejected ( 3 * 25 )

Civil = (1890+35) approx !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 35 = rejected

The figures mentioned are the minimum... and 100% sure above this nos only..

Chennai circle - Total number of application received

Telecom = above 3580

and no idea of no. of applications rejected in chennai

Dont bother about candidates and dont give romours... as it will effect the interest of people about JTO.
Letz Prepare well and Crack the Exam..

There is no interview dude, they hav mentioned this in the application itself!

once you crack the written exam you ar a JTO...........bt the cut off marks depends on vacancy requirements................last year it was 52.5
